2025 MLS Co-Op Replay - NYC at LAFC (3-1-2025)

1 March 2025: Los Angeles FC held the visitors from New York to a single shot on target, and Jeremy Ebobisse’s goal in the tenth minute was enough to secure the victory at BMO Stadium.

The home team was looking to rebound after being held scoreless in their home opener against Minnesota a week ago, and they got off to a positive start. The first couple of shots in the game came their way, although they were wayward, but this was a hint of what was to come almost immediately. After about ten minutes Eddie Segura chipped the ball into the box and Ebobisse deadened the ball off his chest and then ripped a volley into the side netting for the first goal of the season for LA FC, on its first on-target chance of the evening. The home side controlled play for much of the remainder of the half but were not creating many clear-cut chances; Ebobisse and Denis Bouanga had shots stopped easily by Matt Turner, while New York had only one shot (from Monsef Bakrar) which Hugo Lloris needed to touch.

The second half would be much the same, with little open space for either side but LA FC creating the few chances that did come to pass. Bouanga went close on two occasions which Tuner parried, and Nathan Ordaz had one tipped over the bar. New York City, on the other hand, could not find a way to move the ball into the attack from midfield and their shots at goal were uniformly either hurried and/or mishit. Lloris was not forced to make a save in the final forty-five minutes and Los Angeles were happy to put a somewhat uninspiring win into their pockets for their first of the season. FINAL: Los Angeles FC 1, New York City FC 0.
